Sestriere
Sestriere lies over 2,000 metres above sea level, about 100 km from Turin, and is one of the highest municipalities in Italy. In winter it is at the heart of the Vialattea ski area; in summer it is a base for hiking, mountain biking and golf.
Winter and skiing
The Vialattea ski area links Sestriere, Sauze d’Oulx, Sansicario, Cesana, Claviere and, across the border, Montgenèvre in France by lifts and slopes.
For the 2026/27 season the lifts are announced to run from December 5, 2026 to April 11, 2027. These dates are provisional: check the official Vialattea website.

Summer
In summer 2026 the Sestriere-Fraiteve gondola ran from July 25, 2026 to August 23, 2026 and the Nube d’Argento chairlift from August 1, 2026 to August 23, 2026. Dates for summer 2027 are not yet known.
The golf course has 18 holes and is usually open from June to September. See also Sestriere in August.
Spring
Between the end of the ski season in mid-April and the start of summer, Sestriere is quiet and many services scale down. See Sestriere in April and May.
Where the apartment is
The apartment is about 900 m on foot from Piazza Fraiteve, in the village centre, and about 1.7 km from the base of the Sestriere-Fraiteve gondola. See Getting here.
